Daisy was born in
Hong Kong on July 20, 1979. She is the
oldest of 4 in her family with 2 younger sisters
and one youngest brother. Her father came
to the U.S. when she turned one to pave the
grounds for her family's eventual move. She lived with
her mother and her sister in HK - first with the
rest of her dad's family - then after a few
years, her dad sent home enough money for them
to move out into their own flat in HK. She
lived there until she move to Poughkeepsie NY
after 3rd grade. After coming to the U.S.,
she attended 4th grade at Warring Magnet Academy
and was introduced to the elbow grease working
life in her family's restaurant. From then
on, she was taught the value of a dollar, work
ethics and general business / financial
management. At that time, she was not
mentally mature enough to take in the lessons
and resented having to work all the time,
but now looking back, she has deep respect and
gratitude towards her parents. She also
deeply respects her father for making the long
and lonely journey across the world for the sake
of his family. He was apart from his
family for many years before they were reunited.
Daisy's mother would tell her how her
family/friends' fathers would do the same thing,
but some abandoned their family in HK to pursue
a new life in the U.S. with a new family... one
of whom didn't tell his HK family for many
years, and the devastating effect it had on the
lives of the ones left behind. Through
that, she was taught the moral obligations of
each of the decisions she makes and the power of
a strong husband/wife team. Daisy's
parents were not only life partners, but
business partners as well. She is truly
inspired by how her parents worked together to
build something from nothing and is well on her
way to try to achieve the same thing with her
husband Todd. Even with her parents as an
inspiring example, she has no clue most of the
time of how to do it and is still learning to
enjoy the journey along the way... because that
is the most important part. |
